how would you compare the quality of bus repair panels (ie, rockers, cargo floor sections) between Wolfsgang, BFY, and Wolfsburg West. I dont mind paying the additional $$, if I know the quality good.

Wolfsburg west is really good, I really enjoy their panels, I've used them on both rockers, and a corner, and inner rockers, I feel, they are thicker than others I've seen, JC whitney, and Rocky Mountain Motorworks.

As a general rule, just about everything you get from JC Whitney is as good as dog shit, Wolfsburg West is the best of the ones you've listed.

thanks- ill check into it- i have enough dog-shit on there already

california import parts has some too, cip1.com . They look like they might be the same as wolfsburg west. Jeremy

If shipping is a concern , be advised that Cal Imports charges an extra "packing fee" on most of their repair panels. This is in addition to the delivery charge and ranges from $5 to $10. Kinda lame, especially for those of us who live in the midwest. I am curious about Mill Supply ( Ohio company I think). They have a website and print catalogs as well and specialize in repair panels and resto hardware. Anyone have experience w/ their products? I have been happy w/ Wolfburg West . Panels were decent and easy website/ordering. Also good customer service

I too am in the midwest (Indianapolis), so shipping does create some issues, especially if they charge a packing fee (what a bunch of crap)Has anyone had any experience w/ BFY? I also have a concern about cargo floor panels for my '60 panel. How accurate are they? do they have "extra" flat indents that don't exist on the original. (yes I can be somewhat picky)

i live in LA, and have a few replacement panels from wolfsburg west. so i can pick them up myself. the packing charge seems much, but peace of mind that your new sheet etal will get to you intact reassures me. they don't charge the extra fee for their smaller stuff, and i recall at theie open house this past summer that their larger stock is received loose in bulk pallets (not pre-packaged from the mfr.)the pieces i bought (battery tray & jackpoint outriggers)look good (better than my rusty originals) but i haven't welded them in yet. the gauge seems a bit thin, but i haven't seen better either. just my take, and by the way, they do have great customer service & offer club discounts!! ez returns policy on most parts without restocking too.

k- so now the next question- since ill probably chew off my nose to spite my face. it looks as if my panel needs quite a bit of rust repair. question 1. cargo floor. since this is gonna be just a daily driver, and a mobile advertisement for myself; has anyone had the experience in repalcing a cargo floor? is there any people that have done it w/ a site that walks you through. I know of several sites for type I's. I dont feel like getting in there w/o being prepared. i also think the cross bracing may need to be replaced, along w/ the rockers. HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I replaced mine on my 61 15 window deluxe walk through bfy parts I cut all around the edges with a die grinder I had the rocker removed and I slid a cut off end of a leaf spring 3"-10"and used it as a pry bar and popped up the spot welds and pulled the whole floor back like carpet then plug welded the new panels over the lip I left, good luck I feel if theres rust on one part might as well pull off the whole thing and have it all new and clean, also shot body shuts under coating when done

Gareth,

Two questions:

1) Do you do work on Split Windows?
2) Where are you located?

Anyone have a lead of a midwest shop that does nice work-

bubblehead Sat Nov 23, 2002 5:51 am

Jasanch,
I once ordered 2 corners from wolfsburg west and they bkordered 1. Ordered the other from mill supply. THey were exactly the same. Wolfsburg even forgot to take the mill supply sticker off the panel so I knew they were identical. Mill supply was cheaper and faster and had em in stock.
