one of my axle seals always leaks. i know i have the right order, and think that it is leaking from between the axle and the barring. all the way out. by the way i have bug axles on my bus (no reduction boxes) what can i use or do to fix this?

very helpful lind....

i am afraid leaks like this can be a problem with straight axle conversions....

This mite sound like A lot of work, but if you take the tube back off. Heat up that end, use some gasket sealer the thin type. The heat will draw it in around the tube.

Then it's back to 75+

i have the same axles (68 type1) on my bus and they dont leak. before the wheel bearing the spacer goes in bevel side in. then the wheel bearing. large o-ring over the bearing. thin metal washer. small o-ring. metal spacer bevel side in. wheel bearing gasket and bearing cap. maybe your bearing cap gaskets need to be replaced. you might have pinched them when installing them. i also use the metal washer in the bearing cap and put a little bit of grease on the wheel bearing cap gasket to help it slide over the spacer. hopefully that helps. thats how i do it. actually i just did it and my bus is back on the rode once again.
