View original topic: Bumpers...original? How to tell.

I purchased a 66 deluxe hardtop and it came with original seats, interior, jailbars, etc. It also has complete front and rear bumpers with over-riders and tubes. I was thinking about selling these and getting euro blades chromed for my rig. My question is: I want to sell these nice bumpers but don't want to mislead anybody. Is there a way to tell if they are the stock VW manufactured product or repro? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.
Doug

On a 66 bus both front and back bumpers are
pointed ends<====>and not the slash style \====/(most of them).Currently no one repos the 66-67 style
bumpers. If you have pointers then they are
original. How much?? Where are you located??

Mine are both the pointed. Front has overiders and tubes and I have really nice deluxe aluminum trim (just purchased)with very little need for sanding...mainly needs polishing for both the front and back. I am assuming they are original, they are certainly heavy. Few dings, etc in front bumper that can be heated/hammered out. Maybe a bit of all-metal(USC's metalized waterproof filler) to really fair it out.
For everything I would like to get $500 or so. I was going to weld up extra holes, fair them out and paint them but I hate to mess up a decent original bumper with tubes, etc. Im in portland, or area.
I know if you bought repro front and back setups + decent deluxe trim you will be in them about 600-700. Im open to offers.
