on the passenger side my brake light and blinker does not work. the running light does work. do the brake and blinker light work together? is that why it may not be working? i checked the fuse's and change the bulb but still not working. any info will help.

Check your grounds..Put a testlite on the positive leads to see if theres juice when they are in use,

I had that same problem at one point in my bus. on mine, the brake and blinker are different lights, i dont know about yours. however, on mine, where the bulb makes contact with the metal in the back of the light thing, there was a metal rectangle piece that transmitted the current and it was all corroded away (maybe something about being 40yrs old...) and there was no current passing on to the bulb...you may just want to take the light thing out and look on the back of it. hope this helps. jake.

If the bulb socket holders and wiring in the back test out ok, check the turn signal switch and wiring itself... the brake lights run through the turn switch on the early models...

on my 66 four wires, ground, power (from blinker) and two signal all come together in spade clips to plug into a four way connector. which only loosened slightly to allow occasional flashes and blinks. and to drive me nuts until I figured it out. tighten those wires!

the bus is a 63. i have no juice at the wires in the back. i took the light assembly apart and clean all the corrosion. i have put all new connectors on the wires. it seems like the power is leaving from the front. at the blinker switch it is working (my test light blinks). maybe i will have to take it to get fixed. thanks for all the info.

Your test light does not draw what your tail light bulb does. The contacts in the switch could be corroded and still fire the test light due to a very small load. But when the load from the tail light tries to go through it, it draws more than the test light and the resistance of the bad contact causes and open circuit. And your t/s is self cancalling. Brake and turn both come out of your t/s on wire. The t/s switch cancells out the brake light when you have you blinker on. If you can light up the tail light by going to direct power then more than likely you have a t/s issue. If it does not light up and you get a good spark when you connect direct power you may have a short.
