I FOUND A 67 DOUBLE CAB FOR SALE, TAGS ARE EXPIRED, BRAKES ARE FROZEN, AND THE BODY IS BREAKING OUT WITH DIME SIZE RUST BUBBLES EVERYWHERE..THE FLOORS ARE SOLID AND TRUCK IS COMPLETE, OVERALL LOOKS NICE. MY QUESTION IS ARE THE DOUBLE CABS RARE?, I HAVE ONLY SEEN TWO LOCALLY IN THE PAST AND THE OWNER FOR THIS ONE WANTS $6000.00 ANY ADVICE??.

he wants to much. most older aircooled vws are "RAREL" but in the vw world double cabs are not that rare. a 67 is a very good model year for buses but for 6000 you can get a very nice bus.

i just bought one off the samba for $3000. it has some rocker rust, i've already fixed the cutout rear wheel wells, and it needed brakes all around, and i put tires on it. normal. nice driver other than that.

I dont know if you seen the one in the classifieds type2 page2 about 10 ads down, it looks like a very dry and straight crewcab! and not much more than the one your talking about. You might be able to even get it down closer to your range?

for that much all the welding should be done, that rust repair can overwhelm you if you dont look out

$6k is too much. Sounds like $3k truck to me.

My '60 Double Cab was only $5500, all original with only rust under the 3rd door, 60K original miles. New brakes and new tires.

The only rare Double Cabs are the '53(?)- early '59 Binz models.

I've seen a lot less '67 models than the earlier models so maybe a few more $$$, especially if you are in a rusty location

I think $6000 is too high. i bought a '66 d/c for that price. It has some rust but not too bad. Gates ,bed and floors are excellent, brakes are excellent, engine and tranny run strong. Overall a good daily driver. I've had it for 4 months now and I've had to do nothing to it except oil and valves.

Go to metwiz.com (the metal wizard) he has been restoring the gates, bed and treasure boxes. If you want to see what you may be up against, he has great photo documentation of the process. Don't know if it is single or double but you will get the jist.
