greetings! i'm looking for help with removing the reduction box plugs. i've purchased a rebuild kit, and the plugs have to go. or do they? all the bearings are being replaced so i assume the plugs have to be removed. All suggestions will be appreciated. thanks.

If indeed you are replacing ALL the bearings then you do have to pull the metal plug. Do you have the plastic plug or metal for replacement? Vw books say to weld a nut onto the plug and use a puller to remove. Once
I just punched a little hole with a screw driver so that I could pry the plug off.It worked but you gotta be careful!! Not to close to the sealing edge of the plug and not
close to the center where the shaft and bearing are.

I did the same thing as Hella Bro. I drove a screw into it and carefully pulled it out. After I punched it back it, I put a little sealant over the small hole I created so the oil won't leak out.
