an air impact wrench with a perfectly fitting allen socket may do it, or one of those impact things you wack with a hammer. can't thionk of the name of it. often the screw heads have to be drilled off with a drill bit the size of the threaded part, and then the remaining threaded part is drilled out, and the threads chased. go slow and be careful and patient, as you have one chance to do it properly.

Snap-On tools makes a #3 Phillips bit, in a 1/2 inch drive. Set the impact gun real low, like about 20 or so ft-lbs to begin with, lean into the screw pretty hard when you gently squeeze the trigger of the impact gun. If you run high pressure, and immediately give the gun full throttle, you will bust the tip of the Phillips right off. let the gun "work"; that is, keep it on low pressure, make sure you are fully seated into the head of the screw, and have at it. The Snap-On part is SP32A. I haven't had a side or end gate, or door screw, for that matter, still stuck after that, and maybe a little localized heat before I nail it with the impact gun ( once again, LOW pressure) There is a wbsite dedicated exclusively to Single and Double cabs, it's called www.dropgates.com

Tim if you have A torch and plane to repaint. Heat up the screw only till it's Red Hot. Let it cool back down and with the propper size driver, give it A turn. Works every time for me. Even the stuburn hinge srews come out.

I used an impact driver I bought at Napa for 15 bucks. You put a phillips bit in it lube up the screw from behind if possible and hit the driver with a hammer. Hard single blows work best. Make sure you set the driver to losen the screw. I only had to drill out 1 of the gate screws and my truck was sitting outside since 1980 in Indiana. They work great and paitience helps too
