I need a gear shift extension. Are there any ones better than others? The angle seems to be the same on all of them... Wolfsburg West has them for $16.
Thanks,
Scott |

TOTALLY agree with Greg. I've got an original painted version of the "S" type and love it!! I've driven busses with the "L" type and it feels like only half an extention and the angle is funky.

$20 will get you a shift extension and shipping in the US.
These are polished too, not the "plain" ones.

My buddy who has a '63 panel has the 'L' shaped model (he's a VW mechanic) and says that the 'S' shape is tough to get in reverse and that shifting feels 'squirrely' compared to the 'L'.

I got a brand new double bend polished I bought for my bus before I picked up a scat drag shift for type 2 on ebay last week. If you want it, I will send to you for 15 bucks with shipping included! It is nice but I have no need.

does that scat dragfast make a big difference and is it shorter or taller than stock. I have one on a baywindow and considering one on the split too? sorry for veering off topic.

I got the Wolfs. West "S" shaped one, and it works like a charm. Didn't even have to use the lock nut which comes with it, as the thread "lined up" with the natural placement of the shifter when fully tightened. I say if you have trouble getting it into reverse, or the shifter hits the parcel tray when finding 3rd, then you should check for loose linkages in your shift attachment. That was what I found when mine started hitting the tray.
