I recently scored some NOS and OE VW parts from a retired VW mechanic. One of the items he pointed out are these era fuel tank conversions. It seems these are missing the bottom piece that attaches to the large mouth tanks, and then the top half attach to that bottom piece, securing everything to the tank. Has anyone ever seen anything like these?

Those are "breather units" designed to fit onto 1956-59 Type 1 fuel tanks. Very popular in Sweden during the 50s-60s. I have one installed on my '56 vert which was imported from Sweden
