I wondered if there are different size seals, early and late. I was given two seals and they seem to be too big, like the window hole is supposed to be bigger. I could trim them but I don't know if they are different. They are going on a 59.

I assume you are having the most trouble at the bottom of the safaris. Early and late safaris are different. All repos are designed to fit late 62 and up buses with the indent in the upper frame. The early safari's had a correct gap at the bottom of the bus so the seal would fit. Most people around here use the Wolfgang rear safari rubber for the front. It is a pinch welt seal with a round lip and does not go between the outer safari frame and body of the bus. You could also remove your hinges from the safari frame and weld them lower (on the frame) to get a larger gap at the bottom. You also want to install the hinge so it is not flush with the rear part of the window frame, this will leave the gap to tight to fit the seal in. Some seals do not fit also. Hope this helps.

Jayvert57:
First; Did you get orig seals or repro-source?

55-67 safari body seal are all the same-size. Just like fixed windshield seal...same size-opening.

55-63 early or 64-67 late safari's use the same seals and glass. The difference is the hinge is welded offset (higher on 64-67) to make up for the recess on the upper windshiled frame area.

Are you using og safari's or repro?

so not all safaris are the same? what is different between a late and early model. i just got some safaris from creative engenering a few days ago. im installing them in a 64 13 window deluxe. am i going to have a problem with them? i dont understand what you mean by the indent in the frame? please expand.
thanks

all "Original" seals 55-67 are the same.
I never said anything about indent in frame (safari). If you have a 64-67 bus, it will have a indent/recess in the hinge mounting area. 55-63 will be smooth across-no indent or recess.
When you remove the windshield seals, look on the top "windshield" area...you will see a recess where the hinges will mount. 55-63 don't have that. SO, for that reason the 64-67 Original frames are different-hinge welded (offset) higher to make up for that recess.
But since you are using repro safari, disregard all of the above!
read whatever comes with those...

i have a set of what i believe are the earlier frames, will there be a problem with installing them in my 67 ? .... how much difference is there in the hinge locaton? should i concider trading for a later set ?

"what I believe"...how is that?

About the only way to find out:
-you removed them from an factory safari bus-maching to bus (paint)-what year? Anything from 55-63 will be early, 64-67 (recess on hinge monting area-late
-you have a late and early pair to compare
-install/fit them on a factory safari "early" bus with early dash tabs. A late pair won't clear the early tabs

if you have an early pair (what you believe it's), you can use them on a late bus=64-67

Your right i suspected that they are early because they are painted an early color. And that they seukrit logo doesnt have a VW logo also ..... Thanks for your additional input i am still learning the finer details of Original safari's .... Do you have the "late" 1 eyed ducks available again ?
