I have a 66 Westfalia with the factory locking ignition column. I know it's factory because M-code 056 is on the plate. Well as you might guess the lock is frozen and I can't get it off the column. Does anybody know how to remove one of these other than to destroy it. I had a key made that fits the doors, and it fits the lock, but it still won't turn the lock. It is extremely tight and I have marinated it in WD-40, but the lock still won't even come close to turning. There is a hole and very tiny pin on top near the cylinder itself that appears it could be drilled out to release the cylinder. Will this work or is there another way? Thanks.

Believe it or not, I have had assemblies which were frozen and "marinated" in WD-40 which came loose after using Liquid Wrench. WD-40 is teriffic stuff, but it is not the same thing as LW. Before getting too physical, give it a try, you have nothing to lose. Get the LW in the non-aerosol pointed spout, I have found it to work better than the aerosol.

I agree w/ mr pickens. wd won't do much for you. I use Liquid wrench and pb blaster with good results. may help to also tap on the housing when spraying the stuff in. vibration is good. repeat this ritual several times a day for a couple of days.
