What main jet are people running in your
28 PCI carbs? I'm a bit interested since I have a stumbling problem when I accelerate from idle. I'm rebuilding the carb and there appears to be some varnish on the jets. Also where is the best place to purchase them?
Thanks |

I'm running a 122.5 in mine, which is stock. I've never really switched them, but some people do enlarge them, but I'm not sure why. I believe your stumbling problem is not the Carb(unless it's crazy dirty) Generally the cuplrate is the distributor, or a lean mixture(adjustment screw) even if you are running an 009, it's a lot more compatable with a 28-pict, than any other carb(like a 34-3) Anyways, I would start at the distributor, make sure things are timed right, then check out your carburator.
The Varnish on it, is not varnish, the jets are brass, they use a lighter weight metal all over the carb, and generally metal that doesn't rust(inside the carb) for obvious reasons. But the brass just has some rust and dirt on it, from being in the bottom of a carb for over 30 years. You can clean it off, but it won't last long in a nice shiney condition ;) Anyways. Good luck!
(I have no clue where to buy jets...sorry) |

| My main is a 117.5 which is the correct stock size according to Bently. I also have the original distributer. My points look a little suspect and are slightly pitted. I rebuilt my carb tonight and will install new points, and time. We will see what happens. |
