I'm trying to upgrade my security on my daily driver. I use the club (I know, it only slows the crooks down) and was wondering if the shift lock (the kind you install on the floor of the shifter) works as a deterent. Also, does it affect the ability to shift in any way?
Thanks,

| I put one of the aftermarket ones into my 63 bus and it worked great. you need to get a standoff plate to make it work right. I used one from one of those aftermarket quickshift kits. tottal cost was under $60. you do have to hack a big hole in your floormat to put it in. |

| Does this add significantly to slowing down a crook or do they pop the keyhole in a flash? |

I put one in my '58. It may not do any good at all in terms of slowing down a crook, but it at least adds to your peace of mind. I bought the one that Wolfsburg West sells. It wasn't terribly expensive and didn't require the standoff plate that lind is refering to. But lind is right when he said you have to hack a big hole in your floormat.
