where can i find the felt? pieces in the sliding part of my sunroof? no one reproduces to my knowledge. also, the metal rods that go across width wise have rubber on the ends. am i safe to buy that rubber dip stuff that is in a can and dipping those in it. i am interested to know how others restored the sunroof section of the bus. i have the vinyl cover and it slides fine but does not fold properly. i don't want to spend $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ on a used sunroof clip if i don't have to.

Good question.
My wire ends have no rubber tips, and I don't like the way they want to press through my nice new vinyl top material.
Anyone have a good replacement for this?

plasti dip works, as long as the rods you use are clean..west coast metric sells for like $10/set (pricey for what they are) felt? sliders? my og pieces are resined? wood or leather or something brown & hard. kocs/wolfsburg west sells a plastic repro. i bought & they cracked in two or three openings of the sunroof. (sucks, $60). i'm now looking for the original bow retainers (flat 1"x 3" with two rivet holes, & 1 screw hole), t replace the replacements...
your top won't fold right until you replace the fabric strips between the cover & liner. its screwed into the bow ends and keeps assy aligned when opening/closing. good luck!

You can go to a plastics store and they can make new plastic pieces made. I used 3/16
and it was a little flexi, maybe try 1/4".

i think there are still a fair amount of sunroof models still out there to warrant good repops of the inner guts. I can have all the diagrams in the world and give them to an installer or try to do it myself, but if i can't get that right parts or i have to spend over 500.00+ to get a section off an old one(if i can find one) then that sucks!! i heard the plastic ones are not too good. i think my felt, leather or whatever it is is ok and it is not the skinny metal rods j.pickens but i think(my bus is not here now)it is the slightly wider black metal ones that go across width wise that are missing the rubber ends, though i see what you are saying about the skinny metal peeking through the cover. Now, if someone can manage to create "art" and repop these parts i am sure people will be thankful!

As far as the wire rods, what about fabricating them around 2 inches longer and bending the ends over to make a smooth approx 1/4" wide by 3/4" loop at the end? What do you think?
