When I purchased my 1967 bus, the PO informed me that the bus had a middle seat
if I wanted it. The only problem is, the seat is in New Orleans and I am in New
Jersey. Does anyone have any previous experience with shipping an item such as
this, and if so what type of prices should I expect? How much does a middle seat
weigh? Also, I have noticed middle seats on the Samba going for large sums of
money, are some seats more valauble than others? Year specific? etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

| i would say to grab the seat if you can. if i was you, i would make a plea to any Samba fan that may be headed from New Orleans area to NJ to see if they can help bring it back for some cash??? provided it is in good cond. shipping may be a lot as those suckers are pretty heavy. i have a full middle with the fold down on the pass side and that thing was a load. also, try to find someone who has a seat that coincides w/ your bus. Guesstimate or actually weigh the seat and then check the UPS site to see if they would ship it and how much. Then compare it to ones you see on Samba. Or sell the one in New Orleans to someone down there and use the $$$ to buy one at the local shows. enough of my babbling. good luck |

I know quite a few people who have used greyhound or forward air.
You might check their websites and see what they have to offer. |

I've used forward air about 7 times for middle seats. No problems but the last time they required the seat to be crated, which sucked because of the cost ($80 or so). The "crating" was a joke too, all they did was put it in a big box. The box got destroyed but the site was undamaged.
Middle seats are too big for Greyhound last time I checked but I've shipped front bench seats a few times via Greyhound. |

I have had 2/3 seats shipped FEDEX heavy.
Full width seats may be too big.
The problem is getting someone at the origin end dedicated enough to pack it up properly. If they'll play ball, Roadway is the way to go, but you need them to take it to the Roadway depot, and you will need to be able to receive the pallet or box at either an address with a full height loading dock or pick it up at your local Roadway depot.
Definitely grab that seat! 67 is a one-off year for just about everything. |

| i've sent and rec'd middle seats via forward air a few times. they have a terminal not far from PHL. the seat must be on a pallet and fully enclosed. if its the original seat and it's been "paid for" definately do it. maybe throw the dude some money for packing it cuz its some work to build a crate. have tools with you when you go to pick it up and be prepared to take all the packing mat'l with you. ask to borrow their broom when you're done. |

| i called fedex at one point to inquire. they have the "oversized" program. more like "overpriced" it was as much as the seat was worth. |
