View original topic: Rear Seat Kick Panel

I recently purchased a 1964 standard 11 window bus. It's pretty plain, but in good shape with practically no rust. I have prepared an engine to drop in it and I'm going to get a decent and close to original 2 tone paint job. I plan to sell it as a nice daily driver, but it probably won't ever be a show bus. However, it has a very very nice kick panel for the rear seat that has the metal trim piece along the bottom. I have been asked to sell it, but I have no idea what a fair price would be. Has anybody seen these for sell or are they worth much. I know the panel that goes on the end of the middle seat is worth a mint, but I don't know about this one. I need to replace some other interior panels in the bus anyway so reproduction panels would be fine for the quality of bus this is and this original panel can go to someone who wants to pay a premium for the original stuff. I have dealt with bay window Westfalias for a few years now, but I am new to split windows so thanks in advance for any input.

kayakguy,
i'd pay $40-50 for a rear seat kick panel with a straight aluminum trim piece, but at pomona swap, i've seen them go for over $100 in fair condition. material is of little importance to most as reupholstry is usually required in these restos. lucky i have one already! -mark

in my opinion, it should stay with the bus.

I agree with Earlyman. It's an original piece that should stay with the original bus it came with.

the bus or the kick panel

Honestly, what is the chance that this panel came with the bus 39 years ago? It could have been pulled from a junkyard bus 10 years or 10 months ago and put in this bus. I don't think Kombi buses even had those panels originally. I think that was a trim piece for deluxes. To say to keep the piece with the bus is not only an unsolicited opinion and not helpful to this post but pretty rediculous also. I just sold my buses original ashtray...I hope the split bus police don't come knockin on my door.
