64 deluxe bus, 12 volt, new wiring harness

I'm having issues with my electrical. I had the turn signals working, but suddenly they got all wacko. They intermittedly go off and its only the rear passenger side blinker. If i try to signal left or right all i get is a blink on the rear passenger side. I've switched the emergency relay, flasher wires around multiple times, done the wiring diagram check over and over, and I still can't figure out what i loused up. Maybe i messed up the turn signal itself?

Also how do i check if my front driver side blinker is dead? put a test light on the metal and ground the clip? Juice doesn't feel like its going to the light but it looks just like the passenger side, and that works. Bulbs are good

Thanks

Hmmm, sounds like the problems I had when I replaced my harness. I would suggest getting a multimeter and when you set the blinker to work, check to make sure you have power going to the blinker itself. Also, check your grounds. If they are not grounded, nothing will work correctly. That is what the problem was for my left rear and I actually have an external wire running to a grounding point to make sure it works.

I can think of three things. Check your bulbs if not replace them that can cause a problem. Make shure its the right single filiment bulb in front . Check you emergency flasher relay and your turn signal relay one of them can be taking a dump.

Thanks for the replies

Yeah the bulbs are good for sure, and for the flasher and emergency relay, i have the two old ones (i think they were still 6 v) and have two new ones a 12v flasher and a used 12 v emergency relay (i think). The flasher is fine just the relay, not sure if its the right part, but from the number 311 941 583.

Also, i shorted out my parking lights in the headlights one day, since the darn hookups were identical for the ground and the power. are just the bulbs busted, or did i fry a wire?

All fuses are intact, thin but intact.

Also anyone got some info on checking a speedometer? (the tube is fine, it spins, pin is intact and spins on driver side wheel) I'd like to know what speed im switching gears at >=)

Thanks again

i think you may have fried the bulbs the easy way is to take out the head ligh bucket the on the bottem pull the little screw to the termanl and wiggle the thing out saves from pulling it apart and just check all the wires you can front and back
and get a 67 or 66 wireing diagram from vintagebus. com or type2.com one of those
they have nices ones . for the speedo pull of the cable from speedo and turn wheel to make shure you cable is spinning if not there is your problemif that works then stick a small flat head screw driver in the back of the speedo and see if it spins

Ok, I found the ground to the left turn signal loose, I hooked it up to some metal and the fuse blew where the flasher/main harness starter etc. are. Never got it to blow before, so now maybe i just need to hook up the remote relay correctly?

For the speedo is it the cable that spins the mileage too? Because I do know how many miles I'm getting.
