| On split window busses the panel in the engine compartment just behind the left wheel well (the same as the battery tray on the right side except this is the left side) has a circle pressed into the panel. This circle is the same diameter as a hub cap (a Hazett tool box fits it perfectly). The question is: Does anyone have any idea what the purpose of the circle is? If it's merely to lend support to a body panel, why did they make it a circle, and, the exact same size to fit a spare tire tool kit? |

Wolfsburg busses do not feature this circle.
Did they not offer heaters in 55? |

looking at my 57 the the circle has a small hole in it at the front(FIF). Could be the circle is to help lead unwanted water that enters through the cooling louvers be directed to the drain hole.
Can't see why it would have anything to do with heaters. |
