1. Everything they make is limited and will be worth something significant. Especially to VW nuts and collectors like myself. I have yet to show off my stash.
2. I have three kids, don't want to lose a piece. (1332 ct)
3. I can enjoy the unopened box itself on display knowing someone with a similar passion designed it's contents.
4. I would open it and assemble it if I had bought it for myself. But she bought it and it's too damn cool of her to acknowledge my passion. It's the little things that matter the most. |

I struggled this same question on the Lego Beetle I got as a gift.
I opened it and built it... Now it collects dust on the shelf.
But... when people first come over to my place that's the one thing everyone always checks out. |

So it's an investment?
Put it on the shelf next to your Beanie Babies. |

| open it and assemble. you can look at the finished product and the empty box at the same time if you want. what good is it other than a book end if your not going to open it?? highly doubtful it will be a high $ item someday. |

I always get a kick out of the folks who buy stuff like this and never open it and enjoy it.
Who are you saving it for? Is it for you or the next guy?
Yes some day it may be worth more money. But if you look at the value versus inflation, you are probably much better off getting your enjoyment out of it now then you will be if you hold on to it for 20 years and try to sell it.
Open the darn box and have fun with it! Tomorrow you may drop over dead. Do you really want all those people at your funeral saying “what a shame, he never even got to play with his Lego bus”?
That can turn into look how lazy he was, he never build his Lego bus, never finished the car he was building, never painted the living room, and on and on and on.
Is that really the legacy you want to leave?
Go play with your bus! |

Open it. Empty all the crap out of the plastic bags. Build it.
Take it apart, put all the crap back in the plastic bags, put the bags back in the box.
You've had your cake and ate it too.
It's not like it's glass. It's a friggin' plastic toy.
If you lost a piece, walk through the house barefooted at 3:30 AM, with a full bladder set to burst. You'll step on the lost piece. |
