View original topic: Motometer column mount vs. underdash gauge holder?

I have the Motometer 2-in-1 gauge in my '57 Beetle, and got the underdash mount with it. In 11 years since I finished my '57, I have never seen another one (the mount).

Tonight I started tearing down my home office and was boxing up all the "rare" parts on my shelves, when I came across an original column motometer mount. I took a couple pics and was just about to upload it to the classifieds here, and then thought, "Hmm, I should put that in my '57...". But later, it occurred to me that the underdash mount may be rare than the column mount.

Also, the dash in my '57 has never been drilled. Anywhere. The gauge mount is actually epoxied on the bottom of the dash as I couldn't bear to drill holes in it. So if I used the column mount I'd have to bust that off somehow (already did it once, accidentally hitting it with my knee and amazingly didn't damage the paint).

I am not an accessory guy, but wonder if folks have comments about the value/rarity of the underdash mount, vs the column mount (which I know are now being reproduced). I do not have a pic of the mount alone unfortunately, and could not find one in the gallery.

TIA,

JH

John,

Nice gauge holder. I'll bet it's another one of those short run items. Probably only few made.

John,

About five years ago there was a guy repoping the dashmount on this site

I bought two of them, cpi perhaps.

As I remember the quality was good.

You might try a search?
