View original topic: More problems with Raders

Hey! So there I was. Got the Randars mounted with 195/50/15's. I've run into a million problems gettimg these on the bus. The biggest one is that due to the offset of these being different from the stock rims they hit the rear skirt really bad. Is this why the only busses I've seen with them are all lowered? Will this give me the inch or 2 clearance that I'll need to get them on there? Also I'm putting them on a 61 panel, in the front, the snout on the drum hits the back of the wheel. I got a 3/4 inch spacer, but now I can't find studs long enough to go through the spacer and the lug nut. Does anybody else have any ideas on how to get these wheels on the bus. I think they look really cool, but they're quickly turning into a major pain in the ass.
Thanks,
Jason

i put empi repops on my 63 DC and had the same problem. the fronts can be modified with a die grinder and a sharp bit. the center area has to be opened up and curved more to fit the snout of the drum. there was plenty of meat on the empis, but i don't know about the raders. the rear tires rubbed, but just a bit, so i took 1/4" off the inner flange by chucking the wheel up on my brake drum machine. again, on the empis there was plenty of thickness, so thinning the flange didn't hurt anything.

I was able to buy long press in studs from bugpack. They make them for off road cars so they are long and strong.

944 porsche rear studs are 3" long and 14mm.
you should be a ble to order them from any parts house.. there is a 911 stud that is approx 2.5" but I am not sure the year.

a lowered bus with a straight axle kit drum to drum is about 2" narrower than your stock transaxle
