Hey, can anybody direct me to the issue of hot vw's that had the article about the vw boat in it. several people have mentioned it, but I can't track it down, and the folks at hot vw's never return my emails. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks. Glen

it was in the "rarest of the rare" article in the vintage issue in 1998. Funny, i was just re-reading that issue this afternoon!

Are you talking about the "Volksliner" or the Boats that fit on the roof of early Buses, inside the raingutter?

This one fits inverted upside down in the gutter. Has some origianl stickers (inverted) on it stating V-Dub Boat, with an add. up in Washington state, or stating that you could order it from your auth. VW dealer as an access. talked to an old factory mech. who worked up in Seattle in the 60's, and he stated it was so, but don't have a spec of info on it, nor have I seen another one. (saw a pic on a 21/23 window, but looked diffent). also, looks like it had factory seats in it at one time. Hey, bljones, would you consider making a copy for me, I'll pay you for your time, and I'm going to try and chase down that issue. Once again, I appreciate any info anybody can come up with. thanks. The one featured on the '63 sunroof deluxe in the PNW is the "Vacation Waterfarer" or so-called "Bus-Boat". I believe there are only a handful known to exist today.
I believe they were originally manufacturered in the PNW and marketed through travel magazines.
I do not believe it was available through local dealers.

I have access to a fiberglass boat shop.
If anyone has any pictures of this boat, please email me with copies. I may be interested in reproducing these boats for sale to bus owners.
Detailed specs would be too much to ask, but I'm asking anyway.
Thanks,
John
