Anyone see on the news where Verizon Wireless is going to start charging $2 a month to pay your bill online through their website?
WTF?........It's free if you mail in your check or set up automated payments with a credit/debit card or at a Verizon Wireless store. |

Hadn't heard that yet but wouldn't be surprised.

There is no surcharge from Verizon to mail a check or use their other options. |

Do you have a phone?
I got rid of my land line years ago so I have to have a cell.
Verizon was the better of the bunch around here........or was.

That's how I pay but they were wanting to charge $2 extra to do so. |

Wrong... the $2 fee would of been applied if you used Verizon's website and paid with a credit card.
Using online banking and paying from a checking or saving account would not of been charged $2.
When you use a credit card Verizon gets charged a fee so that $2 was their way to recoup the card fee from the customer. It's the same as gas stations charging more for credit cards over cash. |

| I think the government is pressuring them into doing this to try to prop up the postal service. |

Then why are they doing direct deposit for Social Security, Tax Refunds and Unemployment checks?
I bet it was Verizon's attempt to recoup the credit card fees. |

It applied to using their website and your bank account as well.
I pay my cell bill just like you do through a bank account.
From this link:
Washington Post Article on Verizon
Quote: Verizon announced its new fee on Thursday, targeting customers who pay their bills online or by phone. The fee, which will cost consumers $2 per online credit or debit card transaction, puts emphasis on Verizon’s free methods of payment. These include automatic deduction from a bank account or electronic check. After receiving the news, customers quickly opposed the new plan, voicing opinions on social networks.

That assumes you're using THEIR website or phone number. but if you pay from YOUR Bank it would of been free.
Anyway, it's all moot since they are not charging the fee. |

| In Ontario, fuel charge is the same per litre regardless of how you pay. Also many places charge $2.00 per mth for hard copy bill, they don't want to deal with the mail system. I do telephone banking = no charge and you get a confirmation number. |

Why would anyone pay through their site (PITA) or over the phone (Insane).
99% of my bills are auto-pay on credit card or from my bank account...
For everything else, I do online bank bill payment. |

Why is it insane? I pay my Verizon bill on my Droid every month with my checking account and never had a problem doing so. The MyVerizon website is secure just like any other bill paying website is. I don't have to go to a store or talk to any of their annoying employees or write out a check, takes two minutes to do it right on my phone. |

My comment refers to paying via a voice call. |
