There are two material straps that run the length of the sunroof, one on each side that are held in place by the 'cover plate/spring guide'. They assist in pulling the sunroof back to the closed position. My straps are falling apart and they are made of what looks to be burlap or 'gunnysack' material. Does anyone know if this is the correct material for this. I have included a link that shows the diagram for the sunroof and I have circled in red the part I am talking about.

Yeah, you describe it well.
I would call it "industrial canvas"
I have seen strapping like this sold for upholstery of home couches and chairs. It is rough canvas, and has the edges "bound" like seatbelt material so that it won't fray.
That is what I would use.
Luckily, mine were in good shape and did not need replacement when I had my top done. |
