If only they were posted in the classifieds instead of this thread.

I'm afraid it will cause a lot of tension between you when he sees all his stuff getting hauled off....guess who he'll blame?
There is not a huge pool of vintage VW folks in southeast Ioway.

If he put an ad on craigslist with a few pics, that place would be crawling with vw guys in no time. Especially if he said something like $5 a piece for the small stuff and $50 for anything you can carry yourself. Hopefully he didn't pay too much for everything, because at the prices I mentioned he could clean the place out in a week.....even in Iowa.

Seriously? He'd make better money and get everything cleaned up faster if he sorted it by metal type and hauled it off for scrap.

Sorry, my comment was made half joking to show how you could attract plenty of vw guys in Iowa. The op could do a lot of different things with this stuff including hauling it off for scrap. He asked for our advice, but without knowing the details of his deal it's tough to say what should be done. Does he have years to sell everything or does he need to move the stuff soon. More importantly does he really want to sell or his he just showing off his stuff with no intention of selling any of it. As others have noted he hasn't listed any of it for sale.

I am going to give you a quick life story so we can get down to business here

Life story:
I am a couple of weeks away from turning 23. I work at the local slaughterhouse/processing plant because it pays the best in this area but I do not like it. A few years ago I went to the community college for auto body and made friends with the instructor. I hang out with him when I get the chance and after he retired he wanted to clean out fast. I had always been there telling him I would love to take everything off his hands so he made me an offer and I took it on the spot. My dream is to own a restoration shop/classic salvage yard and I see this as my way to step into that. I want to sell parts to fund projects, sell the finished projects to start on new projects, and repeat until people take notice(if anything I want this to build a large portfolio so I can get a good paying auto body job). I have just made the biggest deal in my relatively short life and I like showing off a little. I am going to 1st shift soon but until then I am on 2nd shift and that gives me little time to get out to my friend's property to sort and clean parts and get them posted here in the classifieds. The newest photo update was made just because my fiancee was spending a weekend with her family and I had a free 2 days to photograph.

The business:
I live in the country and I have all the time I need to move this stuff, but the faster the better. I want to make a decent profit on these parts to fund my projects and to acquire more parts/projects. Sometimes I just don't know what I have and I will be asking here. I need advice on the best way to price parts so I don't get ripped off but so I don't look like a fool as well, what parts I should try to move first, the best ways to handle shipping or if I should even mess with that, and anything else you can throw my way.

I hope this helps.

Lots of late model stuff , I'd get a pick up and scrap all of those pressure plates and clutches ,along with most of those intake manifolds and 75 % of those pedal assemblies .
Most of the bugs are late model and rough and have limited value . The early bug is nice as are the Split screen buses. That is where you will get most of your money back, depending on what you paid .
I'd go through those Distributors and look for the Cast iron Centrifical advance units (no vacuum ) . 010 and 019"s .
As for the glass ,look at the pop outs . If you have some where the rear handle is on the frame and not in the glass ,those are early and worth way more than the late model units.
You might try running an Ad on Samba for re builders looking for flywheels and some of those early single port heads. As well as the early 28 and 30 pict Carbs.
Radio's (Complete) and glove boxes are always good sellers as are early low back seats . Look for Early speedometers without gas gauges and with reset able trip meters.
Look for Aluminum sunroof rails and any Sunroof parts are a great place for a Monetary return)
Maybe load up all of the prizes for a trip to a local VW swap and sell the rest for scrap metal .
A great score ,but a lot of work to get rid of ,spend some time and educate yourself on values ,as some early stuff will sell quickly and late stuff will fill a dumpster .
I would avoid the VW hustlers or pros ,as they are going to pick the high dollar stuff for nothing and leave the crap .

Man...I don't know if this is a blessing or a curse! I wish you luck.
I admire your tenacity to make something off all this stuff.
I would be lost and my wife would kill me!
