Ive ordered some Mirror arms from Ronnie.
Pretty nice! I had to finish the detail on one mirror arm mirror end,I just held it on an angle on a grinder and spun the arm to get a nice angled edge. The others were fine. The nut is a M8 with a 1.00 pitch. Thanks Ronnie. |

| We now supply the nuts with the arms as to many people have screwed up the threads trying the course nuts. These arms are EXACT copies of NOS OG arms. We are working on oversize pin/arms for those with worn out hindge holes |

| How can I purchase a set of the Nuts? I've got the one Arm on already and tried out the mirror today. Iwas going to LOWES to get a nut. |

| Those are very standard metric nuts, available in most hardware stores. Our "Home Depot" or "Lowes" may not have a metric section in hardware. My local True Value and Ace Hardware both have small drawers with all the metric nuts you need. |

| Anyone ever gonna reproduce the 55-58 mirror arms with the fat base? |

| Now THAT would be a good piece to do. I'd buy a pair right now. I can't even estimate what percentage of early Buses out there have the wrong ones on them, somewhere around 100% though, that's for sure. |

yeah, i know. i would need 2 driver's side ones, and at least 2 passenger sides. someone should do it. the one i do have though, it looks like it's all one piece, and i think the later (repop) arms, the base is a separate piece that slides on the shaft?
anyway, someone with a machine shop should start making them. |

| Jon- I thought that fat based mirror arms aren't different from left and right? I had a low mileage '57 Standard that had symmetrical arms on both sides. I know you know early Buses at least as well as me so tell me what you know. |

well, i do not know. i would only presume, based on later bus arms. i'll do some lookin'. maybe some old lierature and/or magazines will help.
would be kinda hard to see the mirror if the right was the same as the left. |

| I am fairly certain that there wasn't left and right for 58 and earlier. They are the same on both sides. It would be SUPER easy to make early ones as you'd only have to make one! |

I wish someone would make those Banjo or
Harp mirror arms for a REASONABLE price.
I want a pair for my Double-Cab. |

hazetguy, BUCOBTSTI;
55-58 take the same fat base mirror arm left or right. Basically a 59-67 right side mirror arm (tall) with fat base.
if it bothers you too much having 2 fat base mirror arms....here is a solution (just one on the passenger side and....on the left);

ok. sounds right. and even the parts book only specifies one mirror arm for at least a 56/57 (which is when the parts book is from)and the picture looks like a taller arm in the diagram.
however, take a look at this:

i'd sure like to find a tall/passenger's side one. |

| My old '57 Standard had two of the "long arc" ones. They are curved like passenger's side of later Buses. |

ok. now that we've kinda figured out they should be long and curvy (hubba hubba), who's gonna start making them? anyone?

| Okay Im thinkin it can't be that hard to make an early arm. Take the later longer repo arm and take the base off. Grind,cut, chew,whatever.. Take it to a machine shop or someone with a lathe and let them cut you a bushing to the dimensions of the fat base bushing. |
