| I posted this in the 68 up forum but I'm thinking you guys/gals would know a bit more on the subject. Can I run a 6 volt stewart warner southwind heater on my 12 volt bus? If so how? thanks |

| the fan would run pretty fast, then there's the ignition system. i wouldn't, unless you convert it, or figure out how to drop the voltage. ballast resistors don't work real well. |

| jc whitney sells something called vol-ta-drop is that the same as a ballast resistor? Someone suggested using two 6 volt batteries in series thus supplying 12 volts for the bus and connecting the heater to one of the batteries is there any problem with charging? |

Somebody told me once that you can run the Stewart Warners on either voltage with minor rewiring, which is built into the thing.
They were made for both voltages, you just need the details of the switchover, which I don't have. Someone out there know the answer? |

78 bay: I have details of the switchover. I need to find my Stewart Warner literature the next day or two. I have a front mount Model 8335 in my '66 Deluxe. JB in Colorado restored it for me many years back. Let me tell you, it FREAKING rocks! Man what great heat. JB outlined what I would need to do to my heater if I ever converted my bus to 12 volts. I will find it and let you know. Do you want me to respond in this thread or email you directly?
