what is the correct tire size for a 67? I know it's a silly question but i can't find it anywhere, and i am sure the tires on my wessy are not the correct size.

My '66 bus manual says 7.00-14 tubeless. This is a bias ply tire that translates to 195/75/14. If I had a camper and was going offroad at all, I would go for some bigger 6 ply 215's.
Anybody else?

If you go to a lower profile tire (the middle number) and retain stock gearing, you will be turning more RPMs at a given speed. This will be bad.

well i did not put them on, I just picked thebus up last week, my first bus. it came with them, and my mechanic told me, wile i had it in for a checkup, that they are beetle tires. So now i would like to get the correct tires for it, just gotta find out what thoes are :) would like to get some whitewalls, and keep the proper ride hight.

I don't want to put the fear into you but...if you are cruising at 65 on the freeway, the engine is turning several hundred more RPM (not sure of the exact calculation) because of the smaller diameter tires. As for your mechanic, 14 inch tires never came on a beetle. For the whitewalls, I go to my friendly neighborhood Discount Tire, and buy that size. In SLC, they are about $35 tire for the cheapies and they go up from there. I have a deluxe, so I like the whitewall out. Just make sure that the shop you choose can balance your "wide 5" wheel, because a lot of tire shops cannot do that.

no i know the wrong tires can hurt, that's why i'm not driving it till i get new tires and a new muffler, so you think 215/75/14 is the size for me?

but yea, i know i drove it back from cinci on the freeway, at least i only did 50 max, lol.

I think so, with that you will have a little extra beef for offroading (which you have to do with a camper) and the extra weight a camper carries.
