Hey bro's I need some input.
My oil sensor leaks at the threads. Threads almost gone.
Do I helicoil it or use some magical sealant
on the threads? I really dont care about the sensor working,I just wanna stop the leak!
What worked for you?

the problem is that the threads on the sender are a pipe thread, meanding it is tapered. i dont know of a pipe thread helicoil??? anybody? what you could try is using a bunch of teflon tape on the threads of your sender and cross your fingers.

I would recomend, either using a thread repair compound for magnesium/ aluminum(which is used for repairing intake manifolds) or tapping the hole to the next size up and use a pipe plug. This will no longer give you an oil light but it will stop the leak.

It is also not unusual for the case to crack in the area around the sender. This happens when the novice tries to screw the sender ALL the way in without realizingf the threads are tapered. Make sure the case is not cracked and be careful!!

Mine was cracked and what I did uas used JB-weld and then put a new sender in the hole.you can also tap a new hole to the lift behind the distributer ( same as a type 3 )
