I have a '63 deluxe bench seat. The top edge of the partition (drink tray) is a brownish gray rubber. Is this supposed to be chrome on a '63?

On a 63 it should be chrome.

I have a 64 and did not know difference so purchased drink tray from a person who had a 65. His drink tray fits on my bus, but it has the rubber trim. I just kept it because I have kids and I thought it was safer than the chrome. Also, a corrent drink tray is hard to find and usually the chrome was in bad shape. However, now you can get the chrome from Wolfsburg. I think they changed from Chrome to rubber in 1965. Also, remember 64 was a transition year, so I might be wrong. Hopefully, that helps.
