View original topic: Middle Seat Frame 1960 vs. 1963

I have a 1960's middle seat with the rigid grab bar in my '63 deluxe and was intending to replace just the bar with the correct 'plastic extruded, chrome ends' grab bar. The top edge of the frame on the seat back on my 1960's seat is a circular tube. Did they make the top edge of the frame on the 1963 flat to accomodate the middle trim piece that screws to it?

Thanks,

Scott

Scott,

I've seen you driving your bus everywhere and the old style middle seat/bar looks just fine. Don't worry about the 'correct' freeks out there, unless you're one of those freeks?

I think it will look correct if you just drill the holes. As far as I know, the seats have the same physical appearance in terms of shape, legs, etc..

This assumes you actually have a 1960 seat. 57 and earlier have the "flat" backs.

I am not a seat expert but I think Mr. nosparts who post on here is.

Thanks Everett.

My seat has the 'contoured back' like all the later models.

Scott,

I have an extra set of the plastic extruded grab handles that are in very good shape, but are missing the chrome end caps. Let me know if you want them.

Gary,

I sent you an email about the handles last night. Are you sure they originally had the chrome ends? The plastic ended (64-67) lose their ends but the chrome ones are usually still intact...Send me a photo when you get the chance.

Thanks,

Scott
