i'm trying to install a rebuilt transmission for the first time, but it won't go in. when i go to attach the trans to the front mount, the nose cone hits the underside of the floor pan. i've tried attaching the front mount to the trans, too. still no go. the axle tubes are on along with the rebuilt reduction boxes, but they are free to move and not hung up on anything. this really has me perplexed. i thought i had followed every step in the vw tech manual. help!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks

YOU HAVE AN EARLIER BUS THAN THE TRANS

it seems as though you may be trying to install a tunnel case tranny into a split case era bus and are using the adapter mount from wolfgang/bus boys/etc. if that is the case you have to clearance (aka grind) the top of the nose cone down to make it fit. best way is to remove the nose cone from the tranny and bolt just it up to the bus and then grind a little away at a time until it fits. i may be wrong, but that is what came to mind when i read your post.

or possibly a beetle nosecone and hockey stick somehow made it onto the bus tranny?
