ok tonite i went to start the bus for the first time in a year and a half. its got a 1776 with a remote filter. i built oil pressure, then threw in some gas and fired it up. it ran good for about 20 seconds, then the oil lite came on and i shut it down. went to the back of the bus and it seems the oil filter has split open. the top ring of the filter had split away from the body of the filter, like there was toooo much pressure. i have a breather on the oil filler so i dont think it was too much case pressure. it like over pressurized the filter and even turned the finger notches inside out!!! i dont know what to do. can anyone help?!?!?!??!

PUT A FRESH FILTER ON IT. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT MAY HAVE JUST BEEN A FAULTY FILTER. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN ON THE GASSER CAR AFTER MAKING A COUPLE OF HARD PASSES, ESPECIALLY WITH A CHEAPER STYLE FILTER. K&N MAKES FILTERS FOR ALOT OF STUFF CHECK AND SEE IF THEY HAVE ONE FOR YOUR APPLICATION. I HAVE HAD GOOD LUCK WITH THESE

The oil pressure relief spring may be stuck from sitting so lomg That allowed the engine to buold up very high pressure. Better make sure or you cold blow an oil cooler next.
