| Kansas City Raceway has camping in three different places but their policy is that campers must be self contained, no tent camping. |

| I've slept in a bug before and shared my old so23 Westy with four other people so I know all about willing. We may have better luck at the drag strip as far as camping goes. The challenge is to find restrooms with shower facilities. Having food vendors is somewhat necessary as well. |

| This epic event will most likely turn out like a similar venture to the Arctic Circle a few years back. There are several shows in the Midwest each year where people come from around the country. Just pick one and make it a point to attend. |

Riqs57 wrote: drscope, I was thinking about all those activities. I have found a location that I think would work real well. It also has about forty hotels and motels near bye as well as an air port. The facilities have restrooms with showers and more than enough space to handle a show of that scale.
Winter would keep people away for more reasons than the salt alone. How about a spring time event?
I think the more activities the better and that's what attracts people. I think all VW's should be welcome.
Contact the local Chamber of Comerce, the Mayor's Office, the County Municple building/center, the police department, etc. Ask if there is any other big events going on at the time you want to do the show!
People fighting for motel space will kill your event long before you ever get a chnce to do it again.
In our part of the country we have a 1 day show - The Bug Out at Manassas, VA. It is Sunday of Memorial day and Labor Day weekends.
On the Labor day weekend event, someone thought it would be a good idea to have the Latino Festival right across the street. Guess where all the folks used to park to attend the Bug Out? Right across the street!
So not only did we loose valuable parking space, but the Latino festival has a much larger attendance then the Bug Out!
Traffic is now such a nightmare and the crowds across the street such a hassle that I know several people who will no longer go to the Bug Out! |

| Working on all this. Planning a trip out that way in the next month or so. Contacted the local government offices as well as their chamber of commerce and am awaiting answers and feedback. Its all just a plan at the moment but who knows. If it is going to happen, it will go big but only with proper planning. What I don't want is just another show. |

It looks like you will have a major event clash nearby already. I know that the above is in 2011, but you can bet it will be the same weekend in 2013. BNNNTA is a major draw in the Midwest.
I like the idea of a "national" show. Fall is best, since the weather is usually best at that time of year. The hard part is folks with kids may not be able to attend due to school schedules. Can't win 'em all I suppose. |
