I'm single and don't want to stay that way. How many pets is too many for a person to be considered "normal" or at least "not insane"?
Would having 2 cats or a cat & dog qualify me for the crazy pet person category?

I ask because my cat recently passed away and I took his leftover food & litter (unopened) to a local animal shelter. It feels horrible to leave a place like that without saving a dog or cat. My cat didn't like other animals (or most other people) so it was easy to resist before.

Also I'm now facing the eternal question Cat or Dog?

A guy on my route has 27 cats. He keeps taking in strays. Not healthy but is he crazy because he wants to help? I say cat, much easier to take care of, no walking them in the rain at 5 am. I have 2 myself. Am I crazy??

Remember they are just animals. Yes we take care of them, feed them and grow attached to them, but in the end, they are just animals, NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH LIVE HUMAN BEINGS like children, spouses, parents or friends. I myself, have a turtle, two cats and a parrot, all three of my dogs died within the last two years. I missed them but they DO NOT replace my family.

What makes a crazy dog or cat person? Craziness, of course.

And ALLWAGONS, you are correct. Pets don't replace the family. However, they are PART OF the family.

would owning 2 vw's make me a crazy volkswagen person? btw we have 1 dog and 1 cat.

check your local laws. the town i live in has an ordinance on how many of what types of animals you can legally have inside the city limits to prevent hoarding.

should you get cat or dog? that depends. do you have the time and patience to train a dog? if not then maybe a cat would be a better choice.

When you buy more cat food than human food.
When every garbage night there are 3 bags of kitty litter at the curb.
When you can't walk in the house cause of the smell of cat urine.
When you call animal control to take a cat with rabies away and she argues with them that she can nurse it back to health.
When you smell something rotting and find 2 dead cats in her bushes.
When a cat gets killed by a car and 3 hours later she's still holding it and petting it.

BTW, she lives across the street from me.

Hey, get whatever pets make you happy and you can take care of properly!

A crazy female pet person will probably be drawn to a crazy male pet person and vice versa! Then again, if you had NO pets you've opened the door to the dating world a lot wider than if you have pets. Allergies, bad experiences, or simply dislike for a given pet will eliminate a lot of potential mates!

Good Luck, the people who are in your life daily will probably let you know that you are either crazy and/or a pet person.

When you call for new parts to take a dist with cracks away and he argues that he can nurse it back to health.
When you smell something burning and find 2 burnt points in his bushes.
When a dist gets crushed by a car and 3 hours later he's still holding it and petting it.

BTW, he lives in Bosch land.

Fixed it for you Glenn.

If you would consider eating your cats after the zombie apocalypse, you're okay. If you're okay thinking they might eat you after you die, you're a crazy cat person.

if you have any cats, you have too many cats. You can have upto 2 dogs and be considered normal.

19super73 Tue Jan 17, 2012 9:16 am

Currently have 3 cats. I never thought I would have more than 1 at a time but my wife changed that on me.

Fact.

A "dog" is an animal that you can rest your hand on it's head when both of you are standing.

So does my mom's 11lb poodle qualify as a dog? (i'm inclined to say no. Even though she is a sweet little thing. I'll miss my cat beeting her up)

babysnakes Tue Jan 17, 2012 10:04 am

I don't know if I'm crazy or a zoo. At one point we had...a hedgehog, 3 cockatiels, 1 parakeet, 1 lovebird, 1 kingsnake, 35 gal. aquarium, 5 tortoises. 5 dogs and a cat. Does my father in law count?
We now have 4 of the 5 dogs one got old, the cat, the kingsnake, 5 tortoises the fish tank
and my father in law.

DAIZEE Tue Jan 17, 2012 10:49 am

You can let your breath out now! I was giving this a miss but now of course I must reply

Well I've been called Craizee and I have a little 9lb rescued blind Munchkin , ShihTzu she's a charmer, has cute down pat, very smart and she is my family so cast your vote if you feel the need  She is my 3rd rescue and all my dogs male or female are/have been fixed. I actually know who and what I am 8)
