Hey y'all. Been hangin around alot lately, reading, checking out pictures, and getting some good info. Figured I'd attempt to post photos of my build. This is the first car I've ever built.

Its a 1960 Euro. This is what it looked liked the day I saved it from a wrecking yard in Northwest Kansas.

The bottom of the A pillar was rotted out so we had to cut it out and replace.

Those taillights are coming off and being replaced with the smaller ones that are supposed to be on there.

First time to do a headliner too. Not too bad.

Had a buddy come over and buff it. Actually looks pretty good now. Definitely not painting it!

Installed all new scrapers and window and door molding.

Got the drivers door hung and ready for the new molding. You can see the before and after on the paint in this picture.

I forgot to take pictures when we replaced the pan halves, but after we did that, I sent it off to be rhino lined. Its now back and being assembled.

Had some nice weather so decided to get the sandblasting done on the engine and brake parts.

all Cleaned up, painted and new parts installed.

Texas1960 Tue Jan 17, 2012 11:28 am

This is what it looks like as of this past Sunday. Its narrowed 4 inches with adjusters and 2" drop spindles adjusted all the way up right now til I get the body on it. The back is down 1 spline. I ran all brand new brake lines. I had to run a new fuel line through the tunnel. E-brake hooked up and functioning. New axle boots and trans mounts. Im thinking I might powder coat these 5 spokes black and run them but I might just run the smoothies that I painted.

Hope yall enjoy and sorry for the crappy pictures, they are all from my phone. Didnt really feel like getting out the camera.

great work, I love where your going with this. All mechanically finished and just polish the body.

OvalTeenAZ Tue Jan 17, 2012 12:05 pm

Nice work.

I have a Radio delete plate from a 60 euro I cut up.. its the same Blue as your car..
PM if you want it.. I saw you were missing yours

Thanks man I really appreciate it! This is alot of work lol. Yeah thats the idea I had in mind. I wanted a car that sat low, but not scraping the ground, and be mechanically sound. Plus I get to keep the og paint!

Looks great! Congrats...The patina looks really nice. Can't wait to see it all mated up.

Texas1960 Tue Jan 17, 2012 12:16 pm

Thanks! I plan on getting the motor put back together this week and hopefully try to set the body on it sometime this weekend.

Nice save. Are you going to fix the lower A pillar repair pieces so the have the correct 2 holes in them? And are you going to modify your shock towers that you cut off to offset the body?

Texas1960 Tue Jan 17, 2012 12:30 pm

I did modify the lower A pillar to be correct. I just didnt take any pictures. Once I get the body down then I'm gonna see what I need to do to the shock towers so they clear the body.

Oh, and I scored a set of complete original semaphores from a guy on craigslist the other day for $40!! Still have good lenses and everything!

Thanks for the comments.

I like it! Keep the pictures coming!

looking good but isn't a '60 suppose to have a mohair headliner?

Texas1960 Tue Jan 17, 2012 9:36 pm

Wasn't exactly going back 100% original. But thanks for pointing it out.

Love '60 beetles in that Indigo blue and the fact it's a euro is awesome. Looks like a pretty dry car considering where you live. I have a '55 and a '64 with original paint and identical fade to yours and will be doing the exact same thing on the '55 as you have. Good work!
