Hello,

A few months ago I got a thing beam for my baja project that has been cut and turned. Unfortunately, I do not know how much it has been turned.
1/4"? 1/2" 3/4"? Who knows. A fellow Sambian recomended that I post pictures of it in the "Thing" section to see if you all could tell.

The plan is to cut the centers out and replace them with adjusters at the original position so I can turn up the torsion bars if I want to.

Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. I am planning on using beetle swing arms with the beams because I dont have thing spindles and already have lifted bug spindles. I am assuming that I can to do this. I am pretty sure people have done it before. Am I wrong???

Look closely for any scratched lines on the tubes along the length of the tube. I scratch a line in the metal so I can come back and reference it if I forget how much I turned them. But some people use a marker.

I have but the whole thing was repainted after the cut and turn was done and the paint is pretty thick. :(

I am using a Thing beam with lifted bug spindles (3") and arms on my Baja. This has worked out well for over 20 years. I don't even have adjusters, and it has great clearance. I know it isn't as strong as the Thing ball joints, but I have off-roaded it for many miles, and it has never let me down!

Good to know, I plan on using it because the towers are already strengthened and the whole thing is way beefier.

The plan is to cut the centers out and replace them with adjusters at the stock, unturned location. I just dont know where that is

A protactor might be able to be used in comparing a stock, uncut beam to yours and give you an idea where your setting is. Citroen's photo should also give you a ballpark as to whether it is lowered, or raised. Keep us posted. :)
