| This is paint/restore # 15. About time I stopped painting doors on swinging chains. Next is a fender stand. |

| Many of us out here in The Kingdom of Thingdom are in-route to a (take-apart to complete body off) resto. Do you paint all surfaces of the various hinges minus the hinge pins or do you bolt them on a jig. What comes out looking better. What about leaving SS Euro body hardware raw? I am working on a very nice project right now asn these question are important to me. I have an awesome new local upholstery guy as well as a very good local auto painter. Not a body off but I am planning to paint all body parts separately then reassemble. |

| Hinges I paint off. I strip and clean all rust and paint, then spray the back sides with primer. pins are taped. After dry the hinges are screwed to a 2X4 about 18 in. long so the pin side will hang over the edge. I have a hook at the top of the 2X4 for hanging. Now they are ready to paint. I also have upside down 1/4 carrage bolts that I slide into the upper windsheild frame were the weatherstrip fits with hooks to hang the upper windsheild on chains. Then I have S-hooks to hang the lower frame to the upper frame. We also have 2 body dollies that bolt the body shell at the front 10mm bolts and at the rear pan bolts with 8 in. wheels so we can move the body around or on a trailer. We have 2 lift mounts that bolt from center door post to door post with the 8 mm bolts that are to bolt the hardtop on. This has a hook in the center that we use a engine hoist to lift the bodys with one person. We have two engine stands modified to mount the floor pan to. As we get older we make these things to make it easy to work. Whats the old saying, work smarter not harder. |

Ok, never thought I'd ever say thing to a pair of brothers.
Nice rack, I suppose compared to you two, the rest of us are just boobs
On a more serious note,...I suppose neccessity is the mother of invention. |
