they are bright dipped aluminium/alloy, were sold through the dealerships over here and from memory were advertised in the approved accessories brochures.

IMO they are the nicest looking 15" trim rings and are currently quite sort after but they are not stupidly valuable. i can't give you a price as the only ones i have heard of changing hands lately were given as gifts.

Thanks for that information. I have a good set of them that I am going to use on my 62 beetle.
Cheers Rusty.

If I remember right, I sold a set of 4 for $75 US last year.

One was smashed though, like it fell off and got driven over.
They were all still shiny.

I once had a set, 3 super nice, one smashed, on a 65 squareback. I was stupid to leave them on that car when I sold it. I traded two free temporary tires for them...

Its hard to see, (small pic), but I believe them to be pictured second from the left. Pic is out of a 1959 motor trend magazine.

there was a set on ebay for 10 euros...

My '62 Euro Ragtop came with these. As you can see, the PO apparently didn't own a hubcap puller.

The 5-lug Type 3 ones are way harder to find too...

I have a set for my '63 Square.

I have been cleaning up some of these for my oval. I found six of them and four are different makes, even though they are all the same spoke design.

Over in Sweden they are pretty common. They where made in many styles for diffrent cars, and they are not hard to find. And deffinitly not that expensive either. .
I have not seen an NOS set that costs more than $100, and if you not that picky and can use used ones, then a good set can cost about $30.

As they are common, hardly anybody uses them...

I will be using them for the 'look' not value, and dont see many cars in Oz with these trims. But thanks everyone for giving me info, I appreciate it.
