I have to replace the rear sway bar bushings on my '76 914. I order the OEM bushings from Automobile Atlanta. Any tips on installation?
-how do I press them in?
-lube before pressing in?
-lube ball on sway bar before pressing in new bushing?
Any tips would be appreciated so I don't screw the new ones up.

They are TOUGH!
I just installed a set -- Used a vise and a socket to press them in - just knew I was going to F them up. I applied a little grease to the inside and outside of the new bushing. The fun part is pressing them onto the balls under the car - I used a big C clamp for that. |

I'm assuming you removed the drop links completely to install the bushings then snapped the sway bar in without removing it, right?

| I drilled a tiny hole in the new bushing to get them back on the ball, a little grease will come out the hole, but go's back on a lot easier. remeber drill a little hole 1/16th is enough. this let the air and grease compress back onto the sway bar and lower mount of the shock. John |
