Yes, I already did a search. The closest I found were:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=340873
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=330348
However, I am looking for something like this kit GoWesty sells:
http://www.gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=23359&category_id=400&category_parent_id=
I would consider the GoWesty "kit", but I do not use insulated crimp on terminal connectors (I use the OEM style open barrel connectors, like the big boys), let alone the in-line splice connectors. If worse comes to worse, I will pay the $7 plus tax plus shipping for the instructions, and toss the "hardware".
So, what I am asking is if anyone knows the wiring layout to install this type of lights on warning. I have the correct headlight switch, as well as a working drivers door switch. My seatbelt warning relay is model 323-919-433, as opposed to 323-919-433B as noted on the GoWesty site. I do not know if these models are schematically identical, but I would like to try anyway, as a google of 323-919-433B and relay yields only the GoWesty site.
I am also aware that there are other options, such as adding relays, but I am looking for the solution that requires no additional hardware. As GoWesty states, simple, yet ingenious, so it should not be too very hard.
Thanks for your time and help. |

i did it on the cheap really simply, i picked up the ground from the drivers door courtesy light switch, then took power from the fuse board where the marker/side lights are, then reused that really annoying key in buzzer that's already under the dash {relay #4}
it's saved me many a time already |

all great ideas to create noise and require the operator to reach for the headlight switch when removing the key.
However, how about solving the actual problem, not by adding 50 bucks of LED's, nor by adding another noise maker..
I would be interested in a solution that makes the parking lights turn off when the key is removed, even with the headlight switch ON, then add a separate switch for the parking lights only, like in my Subaru
That way my headlights would also work as automatic daytime running lights, when the key is in with headlight switch on. |

find the wire that goes from the ignition to the radio, the radio goes off when you pull the key |

Working on modern cars daily, I'm constantly infuriated by the multitude of annoying beeps, buzzers and suchlike that hinder my driving pleasure.
Lights on warnings, door open warnings, keys in the ignition, belts not on, reverse gear engaged, etc etc.
Why on earth would anyone wish to spoil the simplicity of their Vanagon with unnecessary bells and whistles like this. |

It is my only buzzer. Does not effect the driving. I want it because more than once I have left the lights on and drained the battery. If you can come up with a system that knows that I did not mean to leave my lights on, considering that I do sometimes leave them on on purpose, I would be all in. Till then, I will go with a reminder that only buzzes when I have the lights on, and the door open (which I rarely do when driving ...), as it spoils my experience much less than being infuriated because I was stupid enough to leave my lights on overnight. If all Vanagon owners wanted simplicity, we would all be driving nice old air-cooleds, with no A/C, no electric mirrors or locks or windows, no rear wiper, etc., like I do ... |

| ? cause they are not perfect and a reminder is better than a dead battery. My problem with the lights staying on when parked in reverse has been remedied thank goodness. I really need a buzzer or some kind of link between parking brake and driving!!!! I'm getting lots of brain farts as I age! |

it's very important to us andy, i need to know that when we park up and walk away, i'm going to come back and be able to drive off
it's the only buzzer we have or want. |

| After several dead battery adventures, I have trained myself to do a full shutdown checklist, each and every time. It helps a lot when I switch cars. |

I dunno, manual shift, manual window cranks, manual door locks, manual key removal....I think I'm OK with manually turning off my lights.

Three words...prevent dead battery. |

There's no break light, but there should be a "BRAKE" light that stays lit until you take the brake off. Is it working? |

If I remember, there is a parking brake light. Yours may be burnt out.
