Aloha, new to posting on this forum, but thought I would share some pics of my buggy.. I Am a Tiki artist /carver/painter and I also love dune buggies and after buying this buggy a few years ago I decided to tiki it out a bit..its still a work in progress and i do have some more pics i will post later.. hope you enjoy mahalo...kirby

I hand carved this tiki shifter

This is a hand made mp3 speaker system i made coconut and tiki stuff

also here are a few art things ive done with the buggy theme
dunebugger pendant chillin on the gas filler

some newer additions
I wanted to have a vintage wood steering wheel instead of the grant so I popped a coconut and some rope and now it fits right in with the tiki theme..

I didnt have a chrome role bar and I didnt really like the raw metal look so i decide to paint it to look like bamboo..

I also removed the front pinstripe and installed a vw emblem instead..

I knew the Professor could build anything with bamboo, palm leaves and coconuts. Why couldn't they get off that damn island?

Your work is nice. I like the carving on the gas cap....

I've been trying to get a bamboo patch started in the park behind my house for years! I want it so I can harvest it to build a Tiki bar in the backyard by the pool. We don't drink, but I think it would look cool. You do nice work, real nice.

Gilligans island was my favorite show growing up !!

Axitech, I highly recomend building your backyard tiki bar. It gives you a great since of escapism even if you dont drink..

If your local (Lacrescenta CA)your totaly welcome to stop by our weekly gathering!!

The detail is great. I like the way the end of those deck boards are finished. You need some lava rock around those banana plants.

Be carefull with a bamboo patch. It's almost impossible to keep it to a patch as it spreads like a creature from a B movie (Growth can actually be seen from day to day) and once it has taken hold it's almost impossible to get out.

Axitech Fri Mar 09, 2012 9:38 am

yeah, that's why I planted it on the township's property and not mine!

Which is smart, until someone notices a crazy patch of half harvested bamboo and you're the only guy in town with a home made tiki bar.

I know a great place to buy huge bamboo poles for pretty cheap and they ship pretty much any where. No need to go through all that trouble..

I had an opportunity to vend some of my art at a local Tiki art bazaar this weekend! I thought I would just park the buggy in the space and sell my stuff right out of the back! Everybody else just had a table and an easy up! I think vending out of a dunebuggy is much cooler!!
