Not sure if this will help...
The ground wire on my '70 coupe broke right where the wire connects to the terminal at the bottom of the steering column. Maybe your connection is not up to par.

how is your bearing inside the column...if it's worn...you might not get a good ground till you move the shaft around.....

Van,

You said the wire broke off at the bottom of the steering column. Where in the column can you see and access where it broke off?

Thanks

Found it, thanks.

Sounds like the bearing like Dave mentioned. With the engine running, hold the horn button and pull the steering wheel up and down. If the horn goes in and out, then it's the upper bearing near the steering wheel.

The Bently book says that top bearing is lubricated with "special grease". Its special because it is an electrically conductive grease... unless someone has regressed it with something less special.

That's logical, is there a specific name it goes by, like conductive grease? I imagine just asking for "special grease" would generate a few odd looks, lol.

Yes that's right he developed http but it ran on closed networks untill the former next president of the USA moved legislation to  open the Internet to the general public thus allowing the www to evolve.

But I might be sounding the wrong horn on that (& that comment aligns this back to the thread topic)
