Hi,
I will be visiting Tucson for two and a half weeks with work, from next week. Is there anywhere VW related to visit or any local VW meets/Hang outs happening?

Many thanks in advance

I visit Tuscon a lot - about the only thing I have found there is
Chircos:

A good shop for new and aftermarket parts with a knowledgeable staff.

You may want to hit bugorama if you're in Tucson on the 25th. It's held south of Phoenix at Firebird Raceway. Tons of VW stuff going on that weekend.

Here's the sticky:

Many thanks for the replies,

google mapped the route from Davis-Monthan to Firebird Raceway..106 miles, looks like a hire car then :)

A "hire car". You must be from the other side of the pond! Over here it would be a "rental car".

There are some other interesting things, non-VW related in and around Tucson.
The airplane grave yard is a MUST SEE.
Then there is the Titan Missle Museum. Thats pretty cool.
And a little north is Biosphere.

If you have never been, it's always worth while to make the drive to the Grand Canyon!

And a little south east of Tucson is Tombstone, AZ. The location of the Shoot Out at the OK Corral. Thats a pretty neat place to spend a day.

I notice from one of your previous posts you're in the aircraft industry so I'm thinking you won't want to miss this: http://www.roadlesstravelled.com.au/worlds-largest-aircraft-graveyard-tucson-arizona-usa/ :D

The graveyard has been mentioned, but there's also the Pima Air & Space Museum... some interesting aircraft there!

And if you're going down to Tombstone, stop in at Kartchner Caverns.

I'd hit up Rincon Market for breakfast or lunch. Good stuff.

Don't forget the Colossal Cave, southeast of town. Rumor is that Mrs. Cusser honeymooned there.

My VW pal Sarah is going through some "just bought a vw and the guy said it was one thing and I fell in love with it and it turns out he wasn't 100% honest and now I'm gettin the shaft" pains...I told her I'd do something good for someone this weekend in her name......so

I live in Tucson.

There's a gathering Saturday night at 7 at Zachary's pizza on 5th by the University.

next Wednesday there's a gathering at Lukes on Alvernon between 29th and 22nd

Every Friday night about 9 there's a meet at Grant and Swan Starbucks (All Euros)

You could also shoot me an email at [email protected] and I'm goin up to the foothills to check out a 18k dollar 63 rag with my buddy Ed if you wanna ride with.

I will be at Chirco early Saturday helpin Joe with some stuff then I'm gonna meet up with Ed and roll up north.

My car has an air freshener that smells like my dads cologne :)

email me...I'll pick you up.

oh...next week.

Well...There's a few caravans to Bugorama and to The MisBehavin Show and the Airkewld gig. I can put you in contact with some folks if you wanna roll with or just follow.

On the 31st there's a great cruise to Tortilla Flat east of Phoenix. I'm gonna take the back way up from Tucson. Pretty scenic and it's actually shorter. Then I'm gonna do that cruise with those clowns cause they claim if the mayans are right...this could be the last one.

:)

Also if you get in town and just wanna talk VW...hit me up.

Welcome
