Greetings

I have a '70 coupe that is very original. I have to say that normally I am an original kind of guy.
Having said that, my '71 vert is not original. The vert was red but now yellow with black interior. I am trying to spruce up the looks of the engine. I am removing the external oil cooler that is mounted directly in front of the fan and installing a dog house cooler. Since I have to get a new fan shroud I thought about painting it yellow. However, I decided to have the finned backing plate powder coated yellow along with the generator pulley and the bracket that hols the coil. I think this will look good on the black shroud.
I plan to add yellow plug wires and maybe a yellow distributor cap. I am also getting the angle iron bracket that holds the battery powder coated to match.
I am considering adding either a dash script or rear hood script to the shroud. I should mention it has dual carbs so there is a lot of black space on the shroud. I have a dash script that is fading and allowing the base metal (rust) to show through. I can get this powder coated yellow. However, the rear hood script will fit and it is much bigger. Would that look ok?

This is dash script.. the deck lid may be too big, unless you angel it some how...

Thanks pitbug. I like the dash script. The deck lid script will fit, angled like you said. But I think that is ok since it is angled on the deck lid too. Do you think the dash script is to fine or small to take a powder coat? Since I have a script that is ugly due to the thin chrome I think the yellow would look good too.

IDK pends on the color of coat? but polished/chrome goes with most everything... personnally I would would experiment get a broken script and just spray paint it and check to see if you like it(doesn't have to be a ghia script) 8)

Just picked up a gold plated deck lid script for $10. I will get that and the ugly dash script powder coated and try to post the pictures. I can always get a chrome script if the powder coat doesn't work out...

It sounds good. I will say this though. Yellow wires and cap not a good idea. Cheap Chinese parts know to have issues.

I kind of expect the quality is less. But the good news is the wires are from Brazil
Forgive my ignorance, but is there a way to test the wires and cap? I'm thinking about resistivity. Any way to use my $30 radio shack volt meter?

I installed the powder coated front fin and coil bracket. I attached the yellow deck lid script to the black trunk wire cover from KarmannGhia.com. Added the yellow plug wires and distributor cap.
People liked it because the vert took 1st place in the Classic 70's class at the Wheels On Academy car show today.
