Even so, you should also relocate the filler neck from the front to the rear of the tank. |

Hahha, And I moved mine from the center to the front...
Filler neck position is a personal preference.
I wanted that look, plus I wanted to use an "off the shelf" tank...IF a replacement ever is required. |

OK, so my buggy is a 1960 vw and I thought it had about a 10 Gal. tank. Turns out from empty it only holds 6.5 gal!! Will a 13.5 fit in most cases? It looks like there is room under the hood but just asking. I am guessing the tanks are taller and not deeper or they would hit the steering linkage below.

Generally a tank other then early 60's will hit the hood and it will take a bit of applied "hammerology" to increase clearance between hood and tank...
