| I'm getting ready to paint my '68 bug, but have to get some body work done. It's seems like it would much more cost efficient to just replace all four fenders instead of fixing the old ones. But I was was wondering if it us possible to use the front fenders from a '65 or '67 because I like that style of headlights much more. I'm only planning on putting t-bars up front and not bumpers. Would the other type of fenders fit? |

There's pre-67 (early headlights), 67 only and post 67 (late headlights)fenders standard (not Super) Beetles. Any of them should be interchangable from each other.
The only things that may need some work is if you want to run bumpers as different years has different bumper locations. Early fenders don't have bumper holes (bumpers through the apron), later bumpers through the fenders and not the apron. You can always modify them to make the bumpers work. Besides that you shouldn't have any problems. |

| Thanks. Do you know if the width's are much different? And what's the difference between pre-'67 and '67 fenders? |

As far as I know width are the same. But earlier beetles has more space in the front fenders because of the linkpin (balljoints pushes the track a bit more).
pre'67 ('38-66) has the sloping headlights like early Porsche 911's. '67 has the upright headlights like the 70's Beetles. I think the surrounding area around the headlight is a little different for '67 then the 68 and up fenders but they still use the same headlights. |

| Nice. Does anybody know which company would be the most reliable for the quality of the fenders. I was thinking either cip1 or so cal. |
