I'm replacing my axles on my IRS and want to use stainless bolts. I have a local supplier, anyone know the specs (size, length and thread)?
Thanks. |

Don't use stainless, it's brittle and will snap.
Use the grade 10.8 bolts that come with the CV kits. |

Ok, I can stay away from ss but I'm still scared to use the ones that come with the axle from the 4 letter company... I can get Grade 10.8 or higher (even titanium or other exotic metals) from my local bolt pusher.

Get them from the local VW dealership. The VW watercooled cars use the same CV bolts as your Type 1 based Dune Buggy. The only difference is the old VW use a M8 triple Square head while the new VW use a 6 sided Allen head.
And as far as the 4 letter word... if you don't trust the bolts, why trust the CVs or boots???
Lobro CVs are available in the classified for a reasonable price. Add a set boots and you could rebuilt your old axles with quality parts.
