My 97 golf usally idles at 800rpm now when i trun on the a/c it drops the
idle to 600rpm and it searches around from 550 to 800rpm. whats the
problem? can anyone give me some info? |

| You're putting an extra load on the motor, the rpm's are supposed to drop. Any Check Engine Lights on? |

Well I'll be, my car is doin the same thing. Did you find out what the prblem was? I was out in Oregon three weeks ago and had my a/c on the whole time we were goin down there, the engine started to bog down at times and at a stop sign the thing would nearly die. Turned off the a/c and it was runnin fine. I'm thinkin I need my a/c compressor replaced and the system recharged?

Would a stronger altenator help?
It's happened in every car (with AC) that I have owned, I never worried about it. |
