| yeah, anything is possible. I don't think a vw pan and suspension could handle the weight. A vw bug weighs about 1900 lbs. cummins 5.9 dry weight 1010 lbs and a 6.7 1144 lbs dry. Thats about 50% increase in weight. Besides, I dont think even the best mendeola tranny could handle all that torque. You would have to build a custom frame and suspension.Mid mount engine for weight distribution. It would probobly be easier to build it on a jeep frame and fit a baja body on a 4x4 frame. There are plenty of jeeps on youtube that have cummins in them. All the torque would be cool but the baja would probobly do backflips when you tap the gas pedal. LOL. If you have time, money and fab skills, I say do it. |

I thought it was going to blow out my rear suspension

| iv actually really been thinkin of just building a strait off road rig so the jeep idea with a 5.9 and putting a bug body on it would be sweet!!!!! |

| 4bt is a 6bt with 2 cylinders missing. Common in anything from postal jeeps to ups trucks to forklifts, boats, tractors |

My '05 Duro was a lemon. GM bought it back from me, with interest and no fight.
My Cummins runs great. |

Have you ever been on the trail with a diesel? They take a while to spool up and stink. They don't have the power on demand a gas motor has. Not to mention they are heavy and expensive. I'd look into an ecotec instead of some over the top heavy diesel.
If you insist on a diesel there is a 3 cylinder cummins running around.
That throttle down customs buggy is a neat idea, I watched them roll at the start of the mint, did they every get the thing going again? I know they had problems at parker as well. It has a ways to go before it starts winning. |
